Having baby Ariela in the next couple of weeks is getting me super anxious about her future. Now more than ever I feel the urge to vote. I want the best for her and I know that my vote in this election will make a difference, not only for me, for you but for our kids and their future.

In this post I’m sharing with you photos of the time my husband, Edgar “Shoboy” and I were invited to the White House a few years ago. It was a very special moment in our life because the event honored community leaders in our country that were making a positive impact in their community. I was so proud and humbled to find out that my husband had been invited to the White House for this reason. That night, President Obama and The First Lady Michelle Obama recognized the amazing and passionate work that the selected community leaders had done for others in their communities. It was such a blessing to be a part of this magical night and to have had the opportunity to meet the Obamas.

It was a very surreal and proud moment walking into the White House and knowing that my husband is an immigrant from Mexico and my parents also came to this Country with nothing but a suitcase and dreams to fulfill but yet we are working every day to make a positive impact in our Country that we love, USA.

My parents immigrated from Mexico to the United States over 20 years ago and worked in the strawberry fields of Northern California. Can you believe that? Working from dawn to dusk bent over picking strawberries in the heat and in very cold weather. As I was thinking of them and walking in the White House I couldn’t stop but smiling and thanking God for how far He had brought us. I couldn’t believe that their daughter was walking through the most important house in the United States. I felt very proud and thankful for all their hard work, and perseverance.

After so many years of hard labor in the fields my parents became business owners. My mom got her cosmetology license and has had her hair salon for over 15 years. My dad now run’s a Laundrymat and has become very savvy at fixing the machines. I am happy to say that they are both US Citizens and have been voting for the past 3 elections.

I would ask you to please Vote this election so that your parents and ancestors’ hard work and sacrifices for your life will not go in vain. Be empowered by knowing that you are making a difference in this Country. We need to remember that people fought for our right to Vote therefore we need to continue doing the right thing and vote to have what we deserve in this beautiful Country that is ours, the United States of America.

I pray to God and thank Him that we have the privilege of living in the land of the Free.

Tener a nuestra bebe Ariela en las proximas semanas me tienen super ansiosa por su futuro. Ahora más que nunca siento la necesidad de votar. Quiero lo mejor para ella y sé que mi voto en esta elección marcará una diferencia, no sólo para mí, para ti sino para nuestros hijos y su futuro.

En este post estoy compartiendo con ustedes las fotos de la ocacion en que mi esposo, Edgar “Shoboy” y yo fuimos invitados a la Casa Blanca hace unos años. Fue un momento muy especial en nuestras vidas porque el evento honró a líderes comunitarios en nuestro país que estaban haciendo un impacto positivo en su comunidad. Yo estaba tan orgullosa al descubrir que mi esposo había sido invitado a la Casa Blanca por esa razón. Esa noche, El Presidente Obama y la primera dama Michelle Obama reconocieron el apasionado trabajo que los líderes comunitarios seleccionados habían hecho por otros en sus comunidades. Fue una bendición ser parte de esa noche mágica y haber tenido la oportunidad de conocer a los Obamas.

Fue un momento muy surreal y orgulloso poder entrar a la Casa Blanca y saber que mi esposo es un inmigrante de México como mis padres quienes también vinieron a este país con nada más que una maleta y sueños por cumplir pero todavía estamos trabajando todos los días para hacer un Impacto positivo en nuestro país que nos encanta, EE.UU.

Mis padres emigraron de México a Estados Unidos hace más de 20 años y trabajaron en los campos de fresas del norte de California. ¿Puedes creerlo? Trabajando desde el amanecer hasta el anochecer inclinados recogiendo fresas en fuerte calores y en clima muy frío. Mientras yo pendaba en ellos y caminaba por los pasillos de la Casa Blanca no pude dejar de sonreír y darle gracias a Dios por lo lejos que nos había traído. No podía creer que la hija de dos immigrantes estuviera caminando por la casa más importante de los Estados Unidos. Me sentí muy orgullosa y agradecida con mis padres por todo su arduo trabajo y perseverancia.

Después de tantos años de trabajo duro en los campos mis padres se convirtieron en dueños de negocios. Mi madre obtuvo su licencia de cosmetología y ha tenido su peluquería por más de 15 años. Mi padre ahora es dueño y encargado de una lavanderia y hasta se ha vuelto un experto en arreglar las máquinas. Estoy feliz de decir que ambos son Ciudadanos de los Estados Unidos y han votado por las últimas 3 elecciones.

Yo te pediría que por favor votes en esta elección para que el sufrimiento, trabajo y sacrificios de tus padres y tus antepasados no sea en vano. Espero que sientas la satisfaccion al saber que estás haciendo una diferencia en este país. Tenemos que recordar que hubo gente que luchó por nuestro derecho al voto, por lo tanto, tenemos que seguir haciendo lo correcto y votar para tener lo que merecemos en este hermoso país que es nuestro, los Estados Unidos de América.

Le pido a Dios y le agradezco que tenemos el privilegio de vivir en una tierra donde podemos ser libres.
