Love is Patient, and Finally the Wedding

In celebration of my 5th year wedding anniversary I would like to share with you how we celebrated that special occasion. We decided to take a leap of faith and go where none of our guest’s including my Chuku (husband) and I had ever been before. We did a destination wedding, which turned out to be a fun, relaxing and an unforgettable experience for everyone that joined us.

As a little girl I dreamed of marrying the love of my life and celebrating our unity in marriage on the sand next to the ocean, hearing the waves crash. I could only imagine how amazing it was going to feel, to have my dad walk me down the sand aisle on the beach. I have always loved the serenity and peace you get from the ocean. Especially, that moment when you close your eyes and feel the breeze and the freshness upon your face, it is priceless.

We kind of had two weddings, one was our official and spiritutal union in matrimony, which took place April 30th, 2011. It was a very intimate ceremony with my Chuku, our parents and our Pastor Kevin at the lake behind our Fellowship Church in Grapevine, TX. The second wedding celebration happened a month later, May 27th 2011, in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with our closest family members, 36 to be exact.

We chose to have the wedding celebration in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, thanks to our online wedding coordinator Sheila Hyman from www.destinationweddings.com she was amazing. Sheila helped us get the best deal and understood exactly what we wanted such as a wedding rehearsal the day before, an intimate dinner by the pool, signature refreshments, personal touches added, fire show in the sand, fire lanterns and our personal music. By doing our research we learned that it was a much better deal to have our wedding celebration at a resort in Mexico than at a beach in California or anywhere in the United States.

I definitely recommend a destination wedding, it can be affordable, depending on what package you get. You also get a vacation out of it, amazing pictures and most importantly two families get to come together while having fun.

Our wedding day in Cabo was one of the most important, memorable, fun days of my life. The lord brought two families together in unity to become one big family. It was an unexplainable joy that everyone who attended our wedding was truly there because they loved us. I was so happy that week in Cabo because after our celebration I had all my suitcases ready to move to Dallas to live with my hubby. Previous to us getting married I was living in San Francisco and my Chuku was in Dallas, we were dating long-distance. So you can only imagine how exciting it was that we would finally be together, not only in the same city but in the same home in Dallas. Love is patient, love is kind and I was finally going to be with my eternal novio (boyfriend).

I feel so blessed that after 5 years of being married I am more in love with my Chuku than ever, I can’t thank God enough for bringing him into my life. I can’t wait to continue Discovering Agape (unconditional infinite love) for God, each other and life.

My recommendation to you is to not be afraid or discouraged by love. Know that God has the right person for you at the right time in your life and God will make it very clear who that person is by the peace that you feel when you are with them.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
