     TAKING A LEAP OF FAITH

How a piece of confetti, with a leap of Faith, led us to our destiny today. It was December of 2007 when my Chuku (Husband) and I started dating in San Francisco. He told me he was going to New York City for the New Year’s ball drop celebration. I remember thinking “Wow, New York City, I would love to go one day.”

I was so excited for my Chuku to be visiting New York City. When he came back from New York he said he had a gift for me. He had grabbed a 2 by 2-inch piece of confetti out of the air during the ball drop in Times Square. My Chuku wanted me to know that he was thinking of me on New Year’s Eve. While everyone was kissing their loved one at 12am he grabbed a flying piece of confetti and wrote Seven promises. When he told me that, I thought, “this man is not normal, but I love it”, how thoughtful of him to catch a piece paper from the sky in the middle of millions of people and capture what he was feeling for me at that moment. As you could imagine I was so thankful that God had sent me a man like him.

We had no idea then, January 2008, that what my Chuku had written on that piece of paper from the New York City Sky would one day become a reality, as God’s purpose for our lives.

Fast-forward to the end of 2014 while living our happily married life in Dallas. This is when God brought an incredible opportunity for my Chuku to Host for the first time his radio show in English the morning radio show for 92.3 AMP Radio in New York City. It was a difficult decision because Dallas was a very special city to my Chuku and I. It was where we got married, bought our first home and most importantly made amazing friends and had close family. Beyond all of that, my Chuku loved doing Spanish Radio at La Grande 107.5 in Dallas and his fans loved him back. The connection that he has with them is amazing.

Dallas brought us so much joy; personally, spiritually and professionally. I really enjoyed those long summer days; going to the Texas State Fair for our spray painted hats and funnel cake, walking around Klyde Warren Park and walking from our Church to the Cathedral after service to get our corn on the cup from the corner vendor. We lived in Dallas for three amazing years. However on December 26, 2014 we took a leap of faith and got on a one-way flight to New York City from Dallas Texas. We were excited for what God had prepared for us.

As we were flying into New York City, we looked outside our window and started to pray over the city that was going to become our new home. We prayed that God’s will would be done and for Him (God) to use my Chuku and I to share His love with others. It was around 5pm; the sun was setting over the gorgeous NYC Skyline and the sky looked so beautiful it was a pinkish purple color. We kept praying, God please let us be a light, let us find joy and peace in the city. I looked over at Edgar and I opened the book I was reading and told him, “I have to show you something” it was the confetti that he had given me on January of 2008. (When we first started dating and he had visited NYC).

On that confetti my Chuku had written Love, God, Janet, Family, Calling and NYC 2008. We started crying because we had an overwhelming feeling of peace that New York was where God wanted us to be together and fulfilling our Calling. This confetti was put away since Jan 2008 and for some reason God wanted me to find it during our move from Dallas to NYC. I kept the confetti this whole time because it came along with a bible that had my name inscribed and was a Christmas gift from my Chuku. This piece of Confetti is now in a frame, in our NYC apartment and it is a   reminder that God has peace, joy, love and prosperity written into our future.

God is always talking to us, whether it is through people, signs or little 2 x 2 inch confetti. My challenge to you is to listen to what He (God) wants for your life, ask Him, seek Him and He will deliver. We truly believe just like that example of the piece of confetti, God already knew we were meant to be in NYC. We are so happy to be discovering Agape for this beautiful city and our community. Thanks to our leap of Faith we continue to enjoy God’s promises of joy, peace and prosperity. Don’t be afraid to take leaps of Faith.

May our Lord continue to pour down blessing over you and your marriage! May He continue to use you and Edgar to shine His light over people. We surely miss Shoboy in Dallas but it is awesome to see how well you guys are doing. He might not remember me but please tell him I said hi! Our kitchen staff at Cafe Express still remembers how much he loves the shrimp and avocado salads! God bless you two! Keep doing awesome on your blog 😉

May God multiply your blessing and grant you the deepest desires of your heart. Thanks for reading.
